Throughout the months leading up to your departure, our office (The Office of Global Programs) is your primary resource for anything unrelated to visas. Should you have visa and immigration questions, The Office of Global Services (OGS) is your best source for up to date information.
For many students, this may be the first time you are applying for a visa. Know that this is a requirement based on the local government of the country you will be studying in. OGS will provide guidance on navigating the visa process, but ultimately it is your responsibility to secure any necessary visa.
To get a sense of the visa process, check by using GlobalChek Plus:
GlobalChek Plus: a self-service immigration application which will help users find specific and up-to-date visa and entry information for upcoming study away travel, extended business travel, or professional appointment/assignment travel.
Note: you must sign in using your NYU NET-ID email. For information on how to use GlobalChek Plus, please click here to read our GlobalChekPlus FAQs.

For information on passports and passport renewal, please visit travel.state.gov. Please also contact email@example.com if you have any question about obtaining a passport, and, if you need a passport quickly, for a letter needed to request same day passport service.
Remember, your passport MUST be valid for 6 months beyond your return date. For Spring 2016, that means through November 2016.
Unless you are an EU citizen, you need a visa to study in Florence. As mentioned, The Office of Global Services will be in touch with you throughout the semester to notify you of important deadlines and to make sure you have the materials you need to secure your visa. After running GlobalChek Plus, please visit the Immigration page of our web site.
Group Processing: The student submits completed application to OGS, and OGS submits the application to the consulate on behalf of the student, therefore negating the need for an individual appointment at the Italian Consulate. This option is only available to those that are eligible which is determined by both place of residency and citizenship.
All questions about the visa process should be directed to the Office of Global Services at firstname.lastname@example.org.
